Art Uplifting to the Spirit
Wow I have spent the last 3 weeks immersed in art. First a two day event in Rio Rancho, NM at the Rio Rancho Art Association Studio Tour where I saw great art and talked to wonderful artists. It was so much fun and the art was very inspiring and uplifting. The second day I began taking pictures of artists with their work to post as an album on the Rio Rancho Art Assoc. Yahoo group. (You can see their web site at rraausa.com or just click the link on my page.) All week I felt energized and excited about art and inspired to do more of my own. The next weekend was the two day Studio Artists Tour in Corrales, NM. which was also great fun and the art was awesome and inspiring. Again the artists were wonderful to talk with, I think that artists must be some of the most fulfilled people around. I remember one place in particular because they not only showed art but had set up an area in the studio where the visitors could make a collaged bookmark and experience the act of creation themselves. One of the best things about these tours was the vast display of different media and types of art. It could almost take ones breath away. After these two very intense weekend tours I had to take a break and rest because I was exhausted. But all the memories of the places I had seen, the interesting people I had talked to and most of all the varied and exciting art I had experienced stayed with me all the next week and inspired a new bout of creativity in me. I was so jazzed about art, everything I saw made me want to create something with it. I created a dragon picture inspired by a piece of tie dyed fabric, thank you, Donna, and some strips of photo paper from trimming my photos turned into a collage. Photos I took along the tours became creative works of art tranformed by my computer and I set up a mini gallery in my house for the ladies who are coming for our Stampin' Up meeting next Monday. A friend had given me a 3 panel stand which hold 15 pictures so I used up all my ink printing fifteen 8 x 10 works of art to display for them, ( and any visitors in the future). It made a very cheerful colorful corner which makes me smile each time I walk by it. Art is so uplifting to the spirit, isn't it neat that God created us to enjoy beauty and be renewed by it in art and in the beauty of nature all around us. Not to mention the joy of creating it. I heartily recommend that you try a little creativity of your own, whether in paint, pastels, collage, clay, paper, metal, fabrics, fibers, or anything at hand. It is a joyful and relaxing way to spend a little quiet time. You can also enjoy just coloring with crayons or markers with your kids, a great way to get in some quality family time. Whether you create it or experience it by viewing it, Art is a great part of life.
